High-Tatras, Slovakia: A Successful GETS Training Event in the Heart of Nature

High-Tatras, Slovakia: A Successful GETS Training Event in the Heart of Nature

The ACC took part at the recently held training course (15-19 February) at the picturesque Maladinovo resort, nestled in the heart of the High-Tatras in Slovakia. The event aimed to up-skill 30 sport and civil organizations’ staff and volunteers with the educational methodology necessary to deliver accessible sporting events that address the challenges of climate change and environmental issues.

The training course, based on non-formal education, introduced the tangible outcomes of the GETS project, particularly the e-module, which was tested by participants during the event. The goal of this testing activity was to further develop the e-module, making it more appealing and user-friendly for key target groups: staff and volunteers of grassroots sport organizations and green NGOs.

Building on the personal contributions of participants, the event featured interactive workshops and presentations, round-table discussions, and debates. As a follow-up, attendees are expected to implement the knowledge they acquired during the training in their local communities.

The venue, Maladinovo (https://en.maladinovo.sk/ubytovanie), is located near the town of Liptovsky Mikulas, the largest ski resort in Slovakia – Jasna, and within the Low Tatra National Park area. This beautiful setting reinforced the project’s focus on sustainability and environmental protection.

The GETS project is an 18-month Erasmus+ initiative that aims to develop, test, and implement an innovative online educational tool. This tool enables grassroots sport and environmental organizations to exchange knowledge to deliver eco-friendly sport events benefiting a wide range of target groups. GETS addresses the growing need for the grassroots sport movement to implement more sustainable, environmentally friendly, volunteer-based, and widely accessible sport events. These events not only raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection but also encourage participation in health-enhancing physical activities.

Mjesto događaja, Maladinovo (https://en.maladinovo.sk/ubytovanie), nalazi se u blizini grada Liptovsky Mikulas, najvećeg skijališta u Slovačkoj – Jasna, i unutar područja Nacionalnog parka Niske Tatre.
